Having A Website Matters. Here’s Why…
Your website is the heart of your web presence.
A web presence is a location on the internet where your business is represented. If you are just getting your business started, you may have a social media account or an Etsy shop or maybe a newsletter. Each of those components is important because it allows you to get your business to get in front of different audiences. However, a website is where your customers will go and look for you. It is the complete virtual representation of your business. And thats’ not all.
A Website gives you control and credibility.
A website is where your current and future customers and clients will find you. More so, it is where they will look for you. Having a website gives you a chance to
Display your business and your brand the way you want.
Build credibility and trustworthiness for your business with anyone looking to find you.
Reach and engage with your target audience.
Here’s how a website can work for you in the bigger picture of your online presence
Website
You have complete control of your website, therefore you can present your products and services in detail as well as showcase testimonials and a complete bio of your business and offerings.
In having a professional website that communicates high quality information, including your business mission statement, you are seizing the opportunity to leave a good impression, build trust, and assure users of your business’ credibility.
Having a website is critical. Forbes agrees.
Social Media
With the rising numbers of shoppers purchasing directly on social platforms, a social profile can be a very important piece of your web presence. Even if you are not a commerce business, social media reach is growing.
On social media, however, content is served to users based on platform-specific algorithms. This means you have less control as posts are sorted and prioritized in users’ feeds, not by timestamp, but instead based on the likelihood ‘calculated’ that the user will want to see the content.
So, yes, it is important to set up and utilize social media profiles, but use them to drive traffic back to your website… where you maintain control. An easy way to do this is to have the link in your social bio drive users to your website shop page or your website services page.
Blog or Newsletter
You probably know it, but just in case you don’t: A very successful way to drive website traffic and connect with your target audience is blogging or writing a newsletter.
A blog will help your customers and clients get to know you and your business better, and increase your chances of showing up on search results pages. This means more new clients will find you. Answering questions and providing valuable content relative to your business will keep your customers coming back.
And what better place to keep a blog? Yep, a website. You may need or want a more powerful email management system to help you send out your articles, but keep all of your writing on your website so it is easily findable on the internet.
